PGE EJ 1 sp z o o, engaged in technical, technological, organizational, formal and legal activities for the construction of nuclear power plants, has selected WorleyParsons Limited, a provider of professional services to the energy, resource and process industries, to provide services related to site characterization, licensing and permitting for the development of a Polish nuclear power plant.
The nuclear power plant will have a power output of approximately 3,000 MWe. The services will be provided by WorleyParsons' nuclear hubs in Europe (Sofia, Bulgaria) and the US (Reading, Pennsylvania) and will involve work on two potential sites. The Sofia hub will lead the effort.
The services will be provided under an agreement which provides for PLN252 million ($81.5 million) of services and the characterization of up to four sites. This agreement is valid for a five year period. WorleyParsons has participated in recent or ongoing similar projects involving investigations, characterization and selection of sites for construction of new nuclear power plants in the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa, the company said.
