Gamesa S.A., a manufacturing company principally involved in the fabrication of wind turbines and the construction of wind farms, has won a contract to provide operation and maintenance, or O&M, services at 13 wind farms owned by EDP Renewables.
According to the company, the sites have combined capacity of 400MW and are located in several European countries, primarily France, Spain and Portugal. Gamesa will perform maintenance services for a period of three years - which may be extended for another three years - on 402 Gamesa- built wind turbines, each with capacity of 850kW, and on 29 Gamesa 2.0MW turbines. Additionally, it will provide technical assistance for 179 turbines, each with capacity of 660kW.
The contract strengthens Gamesa's foothold in the operation and maintenance business, key for Gamesa's profitable growth, contributing recurring revenues, improving margins and generating cash flow. O&M services are also essential to value creation in the development, availability and profitability of wind farms.
