Cigna Q4 net income increases

Cigna Corporation has reported that shareholders' net income for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012 was $406 million, or $1.41 per share, compared to $273 million, or $0.98 per share, for the same quarter ended December 31, 2011.

Total revenues for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2012 were $7.62 billion, compared to $5.42 billion for the same quarter ended December 31, 2011.

Shareholders' net income for the year ended December 31, 2012 was $1.62 billion, or $5.61 per share, compared to $1.26 billion, or $4.59 per share, for the year ended December 31, 2011.

Total revenues for the year ended December 31, 2012 were $29.12 billion, compared to $21.86 billion for the year ended December 31, 2011.
